Draw From The Waters of Salvation
- Reading I: Ephesians 3:2-12
- Resp. Psalm: Isaiah 12:2-3,4.5-6
- Gospel Reading: Luke 12:39-48
Isaiah 12 is the cry of thanksgiving for the day of the Messiah prophesied in Isaiah 11. The root of Jesse whose growth will usher in a time of peace in Israel will also bring into prominence Zion, the dwelling place of Israel’s Holy One.
From a Christian viewpoint, this time of peace has been inaugurated by Jesus, "Our Peace" (Ephesians 2:14). It is through Him whose gospel Paul was chosen to proclaim, that the proclamation of the prophets have been brought to fulfillment. The "fountain of salvation" has been interptreted in the liturgy of the Church as the waters of baptism (Isaiah 12:3, see also Psalm 87:1-7 with Zion as the mother of all nations).
