He whose pleasant commitment is the Torah is like a tree planted along living waters

A view of the Japanese Gardens

They are like trees planted by streams of water,

which yield their fruits
in due season.

Their leaves

do not wither;

they prosper

in all they do.

  (Psalm 1:3)

"Sinners cannot live in heaven, they would be out of their element. Sooner could a fish live on a tree than a sinner in paradise." (Spurgeon)

Blessed are those who have faith in the Lord, whose trust is in the Lord.
They shall be like a tree planted by the water,
sending out its roots by the stream.
It shall not fear when heat comes,
and its leaves shall stay green;
in the year of drought it is not anxious
and it does not cease to bear fruit. (Jeremiah 17:7-8)
